Fidget (2002)

By James Moats in Indianapolis, IN

i look at you and see a beautiful creature
and wonder what i have done
to deserve to have found you so early
i wonder what i have done
to deserve to have held you so briefly
i wonder what i have done
and now pan forward to eight years later
i hope that i am the one

i'm hunkered down and creeping
i don't want to make noise and wake you if you're sleeping
i'll try not to black out your sun
i hope that you don't choose to run away

my dysfunction has left me lonely
to dread the next round of play
it's been so long i'm a little rusty
but once i'm in i'm in for the whole game

i'm hungry now so feed me
your scent is a gift that i wrap around me proudly
i can't wait to bask in your sun
i hope that you have grown to feel the same
